Bloomington, Indiana (www.visitbloomington.com) offers the charm of a small town and the sophistication of a cultural capital with international caliber performance in opera, music and theater. Local restaurants include an impressive array of ethnic cuisine, many within comfortable walking distance of campus.

Time Zone
At the time of the conference, Bloomington will be on Eastern Daylight time, operating in the same time zone as New York City and the East Coast of the United States.

Weather
Temperatures in south-central Indiana at the end of June are typically in the high eighties (Fahrenheit) during the day and in the high sixties during the evening. All session rooms, dining facilities and hotel/dorm rooms are air-conditioned. We suggest that you bring along a sweater or lightweight jacket in the event that indoor rooms are cool.

Food events included in your registration fee include:

  • Opening Reception
  • Continental Breakfasts (Thursday, Friday, Saturday)

On Campus Dining
Indiana Memorial Union - Food venues located in the IMU include:

  • The Market (casual food court style dining for breakfast and lunch)
  • Sugar 'n Spice (coffee shop w/selection of muffins, cookies, ice creams, yogurt, and soft drinks)
  • Tudor Room Buffet (noon time buffet served in formal dining room)
  • Burger King (franchised food vendor)
Wright Food Court
  • Located: corner of 10th and Jordan, within easy walking distance of the IMU and the residential housing center where conference participants will stay
  • Food choices: Food Court style dining with vendors including sandwiches, pizza, home-style, Chinese, Italian, soup and salad bar
  • Payment: Cash. Credit cards are not accepted

Off Campus Dining
There are many pleasant pubs, restaurants and coffee houseslocated a short walking distance from campus.

  • Kirkwood Avenue is a main street leading from campus to downtown Bloomington. Along Kirkwood you will find many casual eating options.
  • 4th Street is renowned for its unusual and unusually large selection of ethnic restaurants: Indian, Italian, Moroccan, Burmese, Mexican and Korean. Located between 4th and Kirkwood is one of only two restaurants in the US featuring authentic Tibetan cuisine.
  • Downtown Bloomington. In and around the Courthouse Square are a variety of eating establishments ranging from a California style coffee shop to sports bars to cafes to a long standing Greek restaurant. Many offer outdoor seating

Entertainment (on and off campus)
Numerous locations on campus and in the community of Bloomington offer evening jazz and contemporary musicreflecting the reputation of Indiana University's internationally recognized School of Music. Entertainment and site seeing options, including WonderLab Children's Science Museum, the IUArt Museum, the Lilly Library of rare books and manuscripts will be provided at conference registration check-in.
